Title: Wiring Fatigue Post by mr._floppy on Oct 29th, 2006, 5:24pm I've finally found the cause of my alarm going off in the middle of the night for no reason ( and the non operation of the O/S reversing light ) . Well there was a reason. In the boot on the drivers side there is a clutch of seven wires which cling to the boot lid hinge arm and supply the rear lid lights and remote locking . Ten years of upping and downing of the boot lid had cracked and frayed the insulation of several wires, one of which was the boot lid alarm sensor, this short circuit activated the alarm occasionally. So if you have trouble with the rear lights have a gander at this wiring weak spot. |

Title: Re: Wiring Fatigue Post by Simmo on Oct 30th, 2006, 7:34am Mr F, This is a known trouble spot as I'm sure you know. We did once have a good photo of it but I can't locate it now. Are you able to post one? as it may be helpful for newcomers. If anyone can find the 'original' please put up a link to it. ;). Mike. |

Title: Re: Wiring Fatigue Post by Simmo on Oct 30th, 2006, 8:29am Dave, You're right. That's the one. Eric has put it in the 'faults' page but the photo's were very good. Shame they've gone. Lets hope we can get some more. Mike. |

Can I suggest the plastic spiral stuff, known as spiraband/spirawrap etc. might be a good solution to the boot lid cable problem. It is the same stuff old as a tidy cable solution for the backs of AV and computers. Just wind it around the cable, no need to dismantle and it will give it some extra protection. |
