Title: paint shops.....
Post by taliban on Nov 23rd, 2006, 5:33pm
how much do they charge these days?
in my scorps previous life its had a small off side rear prang, so the wing around the lights needs pulling out slightly and painting, also the old boot lid was a bit tatty so i managed to get an immaculate replacement, except its in pepper pot red whereas the car is neveaux red, just a slight difference, but noticeable.
any ideas on cost?

Full respray?

Depends on where you go, £700-£1000 for a cheapie (you'll live to regret it ;)) rising to 2-3k for a reputable bodyshop to make it look like new.

Got a quote from Ford about a year back to remove a couple of dings/scratches on the Mondeo (not our fault :)), £1200 just to iron out the centre of the bootlid, small dent on the lower part of the rear pass door and some marks in the lacquer around the drivers side headlamp. Not even a full respray, just a touch-up on the bits that are touched. Oh and a 'found it like it in Tesco' crack in the rear bumper, no messing with Ford, another £180 for new bumper.

I'd do my own full respray if I had the gear/room, you can get a near perfect match with Ford aerosols but the weather wreaks havoc with it.

Regards, Bruce.

I spray my own cars ;D

Reds are hard to match so will need blending in proper.

Just go round a few locals for quotes should not be too much.

If they have not got a oven wait to the summer as the paint will last longer if sprayed in warm weather.
