Title: Tailgate lock on estate
Post by RichardMS on Dec 3rd, 2006, 9:26pm
What I want to know is what the white switch circled on the left does, I know the black one circled on the right operates the solenoid when the boot lock is pressed, Anyone know :-/
Can't for the life of me figure it out :-[ ???http://usera.imagecave.com/RichardMS/switch.jpg

I just had a thought...

It's not for the alarm or door open lamp is it?

Have you tried tracing the loom mate?

Might be the only way ;)

Yeah, door AJAR/ALARM by the looks..

Connect it up and look at the dash display for OPEN closures.. Press it and see if the light goes out..

NOT the door ajar as this works without the loom connected but I think it could be to do with the alarm, See below.

This is what I have found.

This pic shows switch in place on the lock, You can see the white switch, (circled), This is not pushed in until the key is turned in the lock operating the white plastic cam and breaking the contact.

You can see in this pic that the black switch is pushed in, This makes contact when the lock is pushed moving the plastic cam back and allowing the switch to move out operating the solenoid only when the car is unlocked.

Would I be right in thinking that the white switch disables the alarm when the tailgate is opened as it only seems to operate if the key was turned,  I can't see anything else it might do as I don't have a key for the lock, I have tried all combinations with switches in/out etc and the car locked and unlocked and found nothing so far.
