Title: 2.3 overheating Post by davidberryman on Dec 8th, 2006, 10:19am Hi! I've just bought 2.3 ultima auto (151k miles) had head gasket repair earlier this year (repairer gone out of business)...driven car home 50miles emptied header tank in drive, what i do know now is that there is a new gasket, rad fans not coming on and all fuses ok!...it would appear that some clever s&* had wired up o/s fan to loose switch in drivers trinket tray o/s of strg wheel to manually switch on fan...didn't tell me though. Other than change parts (ie trial & error), fans, relay, ECT, should i be looking elswhere? Advise greatly appreciated... Also n/s door mirror has been knocked off, does this refit easily, cannot get PDF files via bodywork section on this site! :'( |

Title: Re: 2.3 overheating Post by Simmo on Dec 8th, 2006, 10:33am The file you want for the mirror is HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/body/trim/doormirror.pdf) . If it is electric you will need to remove the door trim in order to get to the connector. Make sure you route the cable correctly when you replace it,if it is electric, or it will snag on the window. Door trim detail is Here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/interior/trim/Fdoortrim.pdf). As for the coolant loss, go to This (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm) page, scroll down to Coolant concerns, and see if that helps. |

Title: Re: 2.3 overheating Post by jonnycab on Dec 10th, 2006, 8:36pm Thermostat working okay?........Air in system causing a pressure build up?........or water pump not working properly (impellor broken or rusted up)? That's all I can think of for the moment :) |
