hi there

my car has broken down. well. not broken down, just won't start. all i get is 1 click (from the starter?).

so, the question. does anyone know what side (looking into) of the engine the starter is on? can you get to it from above for a little tap?

hopefully i can get it to start. not too keen on towing it home, it being an auto and all that. :(

Drivers side, You might just get down from the top but not much room.

Got a spare starter here ;D

Battery ok? Engine earth strap?

Not busy tomorrow, can drop you a starter off if need be

You should be alright but I would try to go a little slower unless you can disconnect the prop :-/

i don't drive it very often now (wife uses it), so it was like a bolt out of the blue when she phoned that it won't start. :(

Bad luck, Ain't you in a motoring organisation ?

I know the AA/RAC are fairly useless at faultfinding ( or can't be bothered ) especially on complicated beasts like the Scorpio, but at least they get you home or to a garage.

Heres the subframe diagram Andrew

Remove bolts 16 and 17 at each side, then 23 which holds the diff to the body. pop off the anti roll bar and the whole lot drops ;D

hi there

back on the road again. starter changed as well as the front flexy pipes. makes some difference to the feel of the brakes.

hi there

i've broken down again! twice in just over a month. now it's the outer CV joint on the nearside. it's played up for about 3 1/2 years now! just as i was about to change it (next week), it packs in taking all drive with it! i had to get towed again. :-[

oh the joys of owning a scorpio! ;D
