Post by ultima4 on Jan 4th, 2007, 8:42pm
???can you remove the sump on an 20i autobox  without  removing the lamba sensor which is rusted tight at the moment and the surport bar which is just in front of the sump. i did it on my mk 3  without any problom.but this looks more fiddley.can i wriggle it around these items or do i have to remove the said items.car is a1995 16v thanks.great site.      sorry just to confirm its the auto box sump  not the engine sump.i want to change the pan filter cheers ???

This is my question too. I've got a 2.3 auto but I think the layout is the same. I remember when I had my 2.0 that I tried change the filter without removing the cross-member but I couldn't.

As I'm going to change the filter and fluid shortly I plan to remove the cross-member. My only question is:

Can I just unbolt it and remove it or will the whole car fall apart on top of me?

Thanks

Mike

hi there

just un-bolt 3 of the bolts. the 4th just needs to be undone a bit, then swing the bar out of the way.

not sure about the lambda (rear one, is it?). you don't need to on the 2.3 as it doesn't have a read one.

Thanks Andrew,

It's something I've always wanted to do but wasn't sure about.

Oh, I just thought, where would you put the jack, I usually put it under the cross-members' bolts but of course I can't in this instance?

Thanks

Mike
