Title: Auto Box Cooler Pipes
Post by bizzay1 on Jan 7th, 2007, 10:28am
I think that my auto box cooler pipes (or one of them anyways) is leaking, my question is - is this a job that can be easily done on a ramp or is it a FMD job only because of the clips on the cooler rad ??

When I changed the cooler rad on my cossie I only used jubilee clips but thin section ones. The connections on the main rad are a problem to undo, I could not undo mine.

Ramps  would  be  handy,  the ATF  cooler  itself  is   placed    behind  the front   bumper   and   the  ATF  in and out   pipes   are fairly easily  accessed from below   if  the  enginebay   splashguard   is  removed .

If you cut the FORD fitted pipes the new cooler pipe comes with new clips ( I thinK) which are of the jubilee type. I did mine a couple of years ago and it s not too had a job.
I know that in the past people have used Hydraulic pipes and just cut back to a good section of metal pipe on the original, but they are NOT too expensive . And very dooable with a good set of ramps .
If you look at the workshop data for removal of the gear box it explains very early on in the process how to DISCONNECT the cooler pipes and where they are located. the dip stick housing just pulls put it is only a push fit .
