Title: Suspension - OEM/Aftermarket? Post by yangi on Jan 18th, 2007, 5:32pm Well 4.5 days in and still can't believe how nice and relaxing the Scorp is :D There are a few things to look at mainly all around the the bits that attach the black things to the road, not really unexpected on a +100k 8 year old car for the money paid. Main thing is I think the suspension in fairly well on the road to knackerdom. Will check for busted springs and stuff but probably need to fit new legs & springs all round (and will put new wheel bearings, change rear discs, and get tracking sorted properly so me steering wheel is straight >:( Then it should be in tip-top order............... just before something else will need attention ::) So need some help/info on what's out there to spend my hard earned on? Was originally considering lowering it slightly, but I think I'm more than happy with it as it is to be honest :) Car is 1998 Ultima 24v Cossie: SO. Dampers - are there only OEM parts available? because of the Self Levelling? Or can Afters be obtained? Can't seem to find any at mo. Springs - OEM or Aftermarket? Whats the general opinion? Wheel Bearings - Is there a bearing number to get from BSL or the like? or again is it Ford only Parts? ??? Basic advice from all of your vast knowledges would be appreciated. Regards yangi |

Title: Re: Suspension - OEM/Aftermarket? Post by martin_rowe on Jan 19th, 2007, 9:03am only the estate has self level on the rear, OEM were cheepest rears for the estate (I think it was only BOGE that listed the self levelers, they were the OE supplyers), dampers, springs & bearings are available from most factors. |

Title: Re: Suspension - OEM/Aftermarket? Post by scorpio_man on Jan 22nd, 2007, 9:13am hi there no, you don't have it, but the spec has been known to be wrong. going by the diagrams, if it had it, it would the system with the small air compressor down behind the pass headlight with pipes running along to the rear shocks. hth |
