Title: Deadlock doors /remote control
Post by dar on Feb 8th, 2007, 4:04pm
Ford  Scorpio 1997 Bug Eyed
Problem
Unable to open vehicle with remote or keys, vehicle was locked on double lock system (deadlock) using remote.
Have managed to gain entry to vehicle by breaking window and keys started vehicle up but still unable to get deadlock off doors with key remote.
With key in ignition tried to reprogram.  System goes thru all correct stages including final beep stating program okay - still no joy with vehicle door locks.
Question
Can double locking (deadlock) be taken off by remote only even if keys do not work?  If so, how does one reprogram a new remote?
Garage saying lock has to be rebuilt to get deadlock off.  This does not seem to ring true i.e. if remote activated, deadlock remote should de-activate.
Also my remote only 14 months old.  How can it be tested (new batteries) already fitted but no indication light available on this type of remote.
Help - suggestions - solutions please.

hi there

have you tried the boot button on the remote? this gets used less, so if it's programmed correctly to the car, it might work.

this would show that the remote is working.

re the key/door. did the door locks work before this?

tried boot on remote, tried boot on key.  Keys not working prior to lockout.

keys working in ignition only

If the keys only work in the ignition then the door locks must be a different code. Any Ford key will lock the car but only the correct one will open it. The remote will lock and deadlock the car and also open it IF it is working correctly. If you have not already done so readTHIS (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/remote.htm) and see if that helps. Presumably pulling on the handles from inside does not open the doors?. What is the history to the car?. Could the mechanism inside be stiff or seized thus not allowing the rods to move?.

hi there

i take it you're not a member of a breakdown company?
they have ways to get into locked cars.

i can't access the info i require to maybe help you at this moment. my laptop's battery is flat and the power lead is playing up. >:( (might be down for 2 weeks if i can't get a loan of a lead)

if you haven't fixed it by the w/end, look back in and i'll try again.

a notice to others reading this. DO NOT double lock your car if your door locks aren't working. it's not that easy to get them to open again. ::)

Just a thought,     Would   removing  a  relay or a  fuse   deactivate  the  central locking/deadlock  ?

can buy new remote but can it be definitely programmed in without a master key as main dealer say they cannot supply red master key?

Yep, doesnt need the red key to program it, maybe a local member can lend you theirs to try before you buy one?
