Title: electrical problems
Post by kittman on Feb 12th, 2007, 9:14pm
Hi guys, need a bit of advice I am in the process of buying a 96 24v scorpio cossie which has been stood for a while. The front headlights, indicators and wipers dont work. my  mate has had a look and he thinks the fuse box is faulty. Iwas wondering if any of you have had similar problems  and is £400 too much to pay for it ???

Hello and welcome to the site  ;D

if its not taxed an MOT'd i think i'd be looking for it a bit cheaper unless its in exceptional condition, does it run?

Check the multiplug on the drivers side fusebox is properly seated.

Thats the one under the bonnet just below the edge of the windscreen, drivers side (UK). Unclip the fusebox lid to gain access to it.

One end of the multiplug should hook under two locating lugs before its pushed into place.

If the multiplug is just pushed straight on it gives the symptoms you describe... heres hoping ;)

Buy it!  ;D

Check it well, we've had people in the past check it a few times before they see the light (no pun intended)  ;D

yep, we've all made that mistake, the multiplug appears to be seated properly but it isnt, it has to be slid in correctly front and rear, if you do it instantly 1st time, you've done it wrong!
even if the fuse box needs changing; 100 quid or so for a new one and a few hours wiring it in, you'll still have what sounds like a great car for 500 quid.

If you are getting a new battery read This (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/battery.htm) before you do and be sure to take the advice re;the power rating. These cars need a whole load of power for starting.

You think your bad, the guy who looked at my fuse box originally took it apart twice and he didn,t put it back on right either, he runs four group N subaru impreza rally cars in the British rally championships and two focus w r c cars !!!
