Title: Rear seats - saloon vs estate
Post by DJWerkz on Feb 22nd, 2007, 9:45am
Can I just ask if the rear seats in a saloon are exactly the same fitments as the estate?

The estate has the release catches so you can fold them down flat, but if seats were removed from a saloon would these have the same release catches?

Many thanks.

hi there

the rear seats are different. the estate don't fold flat (the base doesn't fold up). they have a flap in the load area that 'locks' on to the bottom of the seat back.

the base is slightly different as well. it has a 'lump' under the arm rest (on the base!). the release catches are the same. the side bolsters are different.

Hi Scorpio-Man.  I was actually looking to see how the seats work in the sallon as I own an estate myself and am aware of how the seats work in that model.

The reae seats do fold flat, but it's the backs only that move in a forward motion so that the same level of the rear cargo area continues up through the vehicle.

So I presume then that the saloon seat backs do not have any suck catches, which ultimately means you can't take the seats out of a saloon and install in an estate?
