Title: A dumb theory about Scorpio brakes?
Post by Moonchalk on Mar 10th, 2007, 10:55pm
Is it possible that, by a driver having a (bad) tendancy to press only the right hand side of the brake pedal, that it results in unbalanced braking?  :-/

In other words, the o\side brakes are working harder than the near side, particuarly at the front.

I'm just trying to either strengthen or dispell a dumb theory that is bugging me about the Scorpio braking system !

Will explain further depending on forum experts answers !

Thanks.

Hi mate, it makes no differance, the peddal simply pushes fluid to push out the pistons, which oporates the brakes. how you push the pedal or where makes no differance. If your car pulls to one side while breaking its probably a piston seased a bit, hope this helps

yep, ya right, that is a dumb theory lol......

if the pads are wearing quicker on one side you might have a faulty caliper, i.e. needing new piston seals etc....

It'll wear the rubber on the right side of the pedal quicker than the left side though  ;)

Hey just thougth i would put in my 2ps worth,

Sounds to me like you have a sticky slider on the caliper and it will need freeing up and the slider covering in coperslip or the like..

Thats the problem with ford sliding calipers, they arent the greatest in the world..

Thats comming from someone who sells performance brake calipers for a living (lol)

I take it you're going to replace the ones on your scorpio then?  :)

If they're easy to change and work well, and you can give me a good price, I might get a few  ;D

The problem is that all of the ones we sell require alloys with massive offset to fit, and require the disc size upgrading as well, when i get around to buying a set of nice 17 or 18" rims then maybe you will see some gold calipers appear on the front / back lol

I have a set of 17"s sitting in the basement atm, but they have the standard scorpio offset. Don't think it's legal to change the offset much, atleast up here.

Do post lots of pictures when you do yours  ;D
