Title: 2.5 TDI & MT-75 Swap into Sierra
Post by DPDISXR4Ti on Apr 6th, 2007, 5:53pm
Has anyone ever attempted such a swap?  Given that the Granada/Scorpio is pretty much "just" a stretched Sierra floorpan, it would seem to me that it should.

I guess the one question I have is with respect to the revised front suspension that the frog-eye car got - did that perhaps also result in a new front sub-frame which might have a different motor mount configuration and/or clearance characteristics?

Here's the project I'm contemplating such a swap for:

After all, a "truck" should have a diesel motor, right?  ;D

Never tried it, however the Scorpio 2.0 8v engine was also used in the post 1990 Sierra and the VM 2.5D was used in the old shape Granada (which could also accept the 2.0 DOHC 8v or SOHC) so I imagine that the engine and gearbox will use the existing mountings and with any luck, the radiator may fit too.  Of course, it's unlikely the exhaust will...

Things like exhaust and driveshaft would need to be custom, but I'm okay with that.

Now that you mention it though, what's the output on the MT-75 look like?  Is it the same as the T9?
