Title: Insurance - 12v - 24v more or same Post by MARTIND on Apr 9th, 2007, 12:33pm Sure i've seen somewhere on this site stating the insurance is the same for a 12v 2.9 and a 24v cosworth 2.9 might have to start looking for a upgrade if it's true |

Title: Re: Insurance - 12v - 24v more or same Post by craig on Apr 9th, 2007, 12:54pm well the 12V is listed as a group 13,and the 24V is listed as a group 15/16 depending on company,so all in all there wont be too much in it..... age and location does bear a factor as well though... buy IMHO probably talking a difference of 10's of £'s as opposed to 100's..... |

Title: Re: Insurance - 12v - 24v more or same Post by scorpio_man on Apr 9th, 2007, 12:56pm hi there going by an old parkers guide, the 2.0 8v was in group 12, the 2.0 16v was in group 13, the 12v was in group 13, the 2.3 was group 15, and the 24v was mainly in group 16. going by that then, the 24v could be more expensive to insure, but you need to take in to account age, location, job, discount, etc, etc...... hth |

Title: Re: Insurance - 12v - 24v more or same Post by TiberiuS on Apr 9th, 2007, 2:40pm I don't get this insurance grouping thing. My 2.3 Scorp cost me £890 last year (fully comp, 3 years NCB). Swapped it for the Jag (IG 18 or 19 I think) and it only cost me £810 - fully comp, honest mileage/value etc. When I'm 25 I'll be able to insure it on a classic policy for about £350. Got the car valued at £6k on the policy, what I'd get if anything happened is another matter though >:(. When I was going to buy a Cosworth last year it wasn't a lot more than the 2.3, about £80 as I remember. Old man's cars you see (no offence to our senior members, Mike ;) ;D). It pays to have a shop around on the net, you might get a very nice surprise ;) Regards, Bruce. |

Title: Re: Insurance - 12v - 24v more or same Post by jonnycab on Apr 10th, 2007, 10:25am Well....I've not made a claim since I was 19 (apart from the odd windscreen)....so that's 20 years worth of NCB & the past 8 years on a taxi policy. I've only got 3 points which will be spent come November. Last year my taxi renewal on my 2.3, which is fully comp & includes full public liability (worth a million quid) & £30K legal cover was only £940. I know other cabbies who are paying up to £4000 for the same policy & can't believe I pay so little....but then again, they do tend to make a couple of claims every year & go to court every so often to plead with the judge not to take their driving license away....again ::) Years of carefull driving has meant that my yearly premium can as much as 75% cheaper than some of my 'careless driving' comrades ;) P.S.....last years fully comp, classic insurance on the MK1 Granny was £125 ;D |
