Title: 24v engine hesitation
Post by nice_1 on Apr 17th, 2007, 4:50pm
My 24v has this hesitation problem. When it reaches 30 to 40mph and your  cruising along at that speed. you can feel the engine is stumbling (for want of a better word) it does seem more pronounced when the car is cold and not up to operating temp. sometimes when you got to speed up from 30 to 40mph speeds it cuts out momentairley. No all the time, just sometimes. it has never done this under heavy acceleration. Anyone got any ideas as to a probable cause???
Thaks in advance.....

Hi,
is this occuring when revs around 1750-2000?

For the 'stumbling': a possibility is the EGR or the IACV - see the fault finder here (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/faultfinds.htm) under "Missing at part throttle" for options.

Yes, it is around 2000rpm. I'll check what you've suggested. looking at the syptoms caused by a faulty MAF it does bang into gear just as you are
de-accelerating and coming to a stop. I'll check it out this weekend.
Thanks.
