Title: auto selecter
Post by dan_the_man on Apr 24th, 2007, 5:27pm
hi, my auto gear shifter has a small problem. the silver thumb button 'pop's' out sometimes :(. I have considered Glue although I would like it very much if a simple  repair could be made.  :)

hi there

the button is used as a gear postion lock. are you saying that you don't need to push this button in to move from park to drive?

if so, then you need to change the gear selector 'handle' or take it apart and see what's broken.

or leave it alone..... ;)

I do need to depress the button to change from park to drive, The button is snapped and occasionally joins me in the drivers footwell. I will look into a new handle I think. ;D

howdy folks. I tried to remove my shifter this arvo and to my dismay none of the torque bits or allen keys fitted in the hole 2/3 the way down the shifter. I managed to get an allen key that nearly fitted and rounded the hole some more ! I am fairly certain I could run a hack saw accross it and make a slot for a large flat head . QUESTION time . . . once I got this bad boy outa there , is it just a case of sitting the new one I intend to purchase on and tightening it up or is there more to it than meets the untrained eye ! the last thing I want is a dirty great slot part theway down my shifter , catching my paw as I go to use it . thanks Y'all.

you may need to do a wiring mod to the over drive button if the shifter u have is an aftermarket one otherwise just slide it on and fix using a new screw ;)
