hi there

at a dash speed of 80mph, my 2.3 is at 3000rpm.
for the 24v, maybe 2 or 300 rpm lower.

hth

easiest way to check is to go to 60mph cruising. then play with the o/d button. revs will go up if the o/d is off.

on my 24v, 3000 rpm = 85mph, 2750rpm = 75mph

or if 6 and a bit 000 at 140  :P, take it for a run then press the od button on the shifter, if the revs increase then 4th is working as pressing the button has dropped the box into 3rd

}{

As was said earlier 3000 RPM = 85 MPH

6250 at 140 MPH, you must be in 3rd gear as box will kick down at around 120 !  ::)

6250 RPM in 4th gear lock up = approx 170 MPH, but unfortunately  :'(  its too tall geared to pull max RPM in top.

I would imagine a turbocharged one would redline in top though  ;D

Howied ???

never felt or heard the box drop a cog when doing my flat out run, and the revs sounded constant...

Matt,

Assuming your speedo and rev counter are fairly accurate you should be getting around 4500 rpm at 145 mph, mine does this fairly regularly, not on the public roads of course !!  ;D ;D

If you think about it logically, double the Input RPM at a given Road Speed (in the same gear), and you will double the output speed (MPH)......... 3000 RPM = 85 MPH therefore 6000 RPM = 170 MPH, but as I said, these old girls are too tall geared to pull max RPM in 4th with lockup engaged, which is why they max out at about 145 - 150 MPH, but deffo not redlining.

Regards Dave

What, for driving a Cossie like they should be driven?

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!

If mister Blair dont like it, then he should just resign and let someone decent run the country.

You could always fit a 4.27 Diff in your 24v like mine ;)

;D ;D

I think the 2.0 litre diff would be too low geared for me as I do a lot of motorway driving, but did you ever try a 2.3 diff ?

I have wondered whether this would be a more suitable choice as I'm not after all out accelleration, just a bit more lively perhaps.
