Probably around £45.00 upwards.

You need a GOOD battery for the Scorpio especially as you've got a Cossie. They are highly reliant on good electrical power.

Forget the cheapies unless you want a repeat performance as soon as winter comes round. Bite the bullet and buy a good one with a good guarantee.  ;)

All you need to know is HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/battery.htm).As S/D says do not compromise on this. Also don't forget to re-connect all the leads. There is a small black one which has a habit of falling down out of sight and you wouldn't be the first to miss it off when re-connecting. :)

That is really interesting as i have a HALFORDS battery and the article mentioning them failing at a high rate!!

Modified by ME to remove the FRAUD word used incorrectly in HALFORDS.

No no no :o

Halfords batteries are trouble, don't go there. That's where the AA often get them from and they don't last 5 minutes.

Get one from your local dealer, cost me about £70 for the 2.3, shouldn't be much more for the cosworth. Believe me they last ages, had mine on 2 1/2 years with the car being regularly stood for weeks on end and it was still perfect when I sold it. Battery it replaced was, you've guessed it, the original Motorcraft form Sep 1996.

Regards, Bruce.

My Dad drives a van for a local motor factor so he is getting me one cheap  :)

If you change the Scorp battery lead ends from square to round, then a good battery is alot cheaper.....square terminal batteries aren't so readily available as round terminal ones  ;)
