Title: Need a new battery. Best deals?
Post by BrianT on May 28th, 2007, 8:02pm
My battery (which was 2nd hand anyway) is losing charge and the local garage reckon it's broken, as it won't take a full charge either. So I'm after a new one.

Looking at a few suppliers online and in the real world, prices vary hugely, so I'd welcome any advice re. good vs bad models and also any good deals to be had online of from chain suppliers like KwikFit. No sense in spending money unnecessarily is there?  ;)

Hi. I'd say go to your dealer and get a Motorcraft one (around £70 when I got my last) but I guess someone else will chime in with an alternative ::)

The AA and Halfords are great but it's true what is said about their batteries, don't touch them...they don't last :(

I personally don't think you can beat a Lucas battery.
There's sure to be an Auto-electricians in your area, and generally they don't deal with rubbish batteries because it's bad for their business. I'd have a chat with them.

A Lucas one will be a bit dearer, yes, but once fitted, you can forget it, and Lucas batteries  come with a three year guarantee.

I also agree with Bruce. Motorcraft batteries are OK.

As always have a ring round, and go for the best your pocket can afford. The cheapies are a waste of time for the Scorpio's, and the 'budget store' ones ( as mentioned) are generally not up to the job.  ;)
