Title: dent removal
Post by scorpio_man on Jun 4th, 2007, 8:53pm
hi there

spotted this (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/29/video-car-dent-removal-with-hair-dryer-and-compressed-air/) while surfing.

i haven't tried it, so you do so at your own risk, but the risk is very low as the panel is already damaged. ;)

btw, it take a few seconds to load the video. :)

I can confirm that this technique does work so long as the dent has no creases in it, it is ideal if the panel is just pushed in equally but bear in mind that if you can get access to the inside of the panel you could easily push it out with your hand.  I did two dents on my car and it has made an improvement, however they are both still rippled....

Now THAT is clever. Might just try it on the next 'family dent'.....hope it's not my car though!!  :D

Is compressed Co2 easily available? ???

You will get a product from somewhere like Maplins, I used 'Northwind' which is designed for cooling electronic components etc, another one is a freeze spray you can get for freezing chewing gum to aid removal from carpets etc

Reminds me of the Jeremy Clarkson video I saw once where 4x4 drivers in Iceland used to run on almost flat tyres to grip the ice and one problem was the tyre slipping off of the rim. What I remember was lighter gas and a flame to get tyres back on the rims 8) ;D

Kwikfit, eat your heart out ;D

...and also of the time when I was in year 6 junior school and we went to a science lecture in London. One of the lectures was cooking eggs with liquid nitrogen, not sure if they were edible though, obviously destined for McDonalds :-/
