Title: CD in Estate Post by Swarfmaker on Jun 21st, 2007, 8:12pm I'm trying to fix a CD Changer into my '96 2.9 Ghia Estate. Got a mounting bracket (thanks Scorpius) but can't figure out where it fits. could someone please post a picture or two of the layout. I'm also looking for a cover for the Unit. Cheers, Iain |

Title: Re: CD in Estate Post by Swarfmaker on Jun 21st, 2007, 8:56pm In the area where I *think* it should go we have from rear to front, cover over light cluster, speaker, cubby hole (I think for First Aid kit), then wheelarch. So, do I get rid of the cubby hole? ??? A picture would help clarify. Cheers Iain |

Title: Re: CD in Estate Post by Scorpius on Jun 21st, 2007, 10:23pm Just had a thought Iain. If you car never had a CD changer, then maybe you have a carpet that covers where it goes. Could be that peeling back the carpet will reveal where if fits.> It could also be, however, that you dont have the lead for the changer fitted either. Ian |

Title: Re: CD in Estate Post by Swarfmaker on Jun 22nd, 2007, 7:30am Scorpious, This car was never fitted with a CD changer from new. I've installed the lead for the changer and have the changer fitted beside the wheelarch at the moment. I'll strip off the side trim later today and have a look for vacant bolt holes that might be for the mounting bracket. Cheers, Iain |

Title: Re: CD in Estate Post by Simmo on Jun 22nd, 2007, 8:28am If you go to This (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=cars;action=display;num=1182428700) page you will see exactly where it is fitted. You will no doubt have to remove the side trim in order to deal with it. :) |

Title: Re: CD in Estate Post by Swarfmaker on Jun 23rd, 2007, 12:30pm Finally got it fitted today. Tested it all before fastening everything up, works great. Get wife out to admire my handywork and it comes up with "CD ERROR". >:( So I strip the side panel off again , jiggle the connector and it starts working again. ;D Lets hope that it continues to work. Thanks to all who offered advice. Cheers Iain |

Title: Re: CD in Estate Post by Simmo on Jun 23rd, 2007, 3:38pm Well done Ian. I don't know where you got the loom from but there is a known problem with a 'dodgy' connection in the wiring a short distance from the connector, usually as a result of bad soldering, may pay to check that if you get further problems. IIRC you have to strip back some of the outer 'wrapping'in order to access the joint. ;) |
