Title: PAS speed sensitive??
Post by dave82506 on Jul 1st, 2007, 9:04am
Can anyone advise on the steering assistance on a scorpio 24v. Mine  does not firm up at all. Even at motorway speeds  :o it feels uncomfortably light. Can I rectify this? I read in a review that the firming up is noticable as soon as you move off.

Maybe it has been fitted with a NON speed sensitive rack.

Are your tyre pressures correct?

Over inflated tyres produce some alarming effects.  :o

My 2.3 never had it and it never felt light or unsure at speed, maybe the 24v has more assistance?

On the Jag I can't notice it change with speed but it's got a LOT of assistance at parking speeds (you can literally turn the wheel with your little finger), I'm guessing that if it gave this much assistance at speed it would be unstable, like being on ice.

Oddball suggestion but it couldn't be the VSS playing up, could it?
