Title: Headlight not working
Post by ricmar on Jul 15th, 2007, 11:29am
After eventually getting his N Reg V6 2.9 litre Granada Scorpio Ultima to start (problem traced to fuel cut off in the boot - my previous posting back in Feb under the heading "Will not fire" refers) my neighbour is left with an offside headlamp (including mainbeam) which does not work.

All other electrics seem to be working and the headlamp unit itself has been tested OK so it's not the bulb. Fuses have been checked and also the switch  so of course it looks like something wrong with the wiring maybe between the switch and the fusebox. But the wires there are so difficult to access !

It's now driving him completely nuts - any ideas anyone ?

Have you checked the multi-plug next to the headlamp ?....may not be pushed in properly or maybe the connections need a bit of a spray up  :)

Check the pins in the multiplug behind the switch. There may be signs of overheating to one of the pins.

I had the same problem on the 2ltr, I checked everything and finally called an autosparky, he came and did loads of tests too, he came to the conclusion that it was under the main fusebox.  Due to time and weather conditions (winter) he decided that a temporary repair would be the best way forward.  He traced the wires to the headlights at the bulkhead near the wipermotor, he cut into the sheething and found the wires for the headlights, he spliced them together as the n/s was working ok, this solved the problem but I can't remember the colour of the wires he spliced.

May be a way for you to go....

He charged me £30 and I had no more problems...
