Title: Re: windscreen replace Post by peteHull on Sep 10th, 2007, 9:31pm I took one out but didn't refit it.... ??? I cut round it with a sharp flexible knife, just to see if I could. Then I smashed it putting it in the wheely bin.... The heater was kaput... {} Replacing should be done using the correct compuond and should be done by a proper screen fitter as the integrity of the car is dependant on the strength offered by bonding of the windshield and back screen.... ::)The back one I removed quicker.... with a hammer. ;D hth Pete |

Title: Re: windscreen replace Post by Highlander on Sep 11th, 2007, 7:30am I've tried this too, I reckon the best option is to buy a new one if you need one its safer too! most original Scorpio windscreens now are showing little signs of age ;) its very unusual to find one with the heating elements all working anyway. |

Title: Re: windscreen replace Post by SCORPY_NEWBY on Sep 11th, 2007, 10:08pm I was trained to remove and refit direct vehicle glazing (windscreens to you and me) by Thatcham. There's no reason why you shouldn't refit a screen removed from another car but I'd have to agree with highlander on the heater element part of things :) |
