Title: De - Catting Post by cueball57 on Oct 11th, 2007, 11:05am I have read a couple of post's on here about de-catting to improve the power. How would this effect the mot, or do you just put the cat's back on for the test. |

Title: Re: De - Catting Post by Highlander on Oct 11th, 2007, 2:11pm My 24v still passes the emission test with the cat internals removed but not by much :) |

Title: Re: De - Catting Post by cossie_al on Oct 12th, 2007, 12:51pm my 24v failed its mot on emisions So I replaced the cats and found the old ones were completely empty. I found no difference in power when I put the new cats on. |

Title: Re: De - Catting Post by Tons_of_fun on Oct 12th, 2007, 2:25pm My cat actually fell apart internally,so i emptied it out & re fitted.Had the emissions checked purley out of intrest and was told it will fail.Dont honestly think the car performs any better either |

Title: Re: De - Catting Post by dan_the_man on Oct 12th, 2007, 5:19pm I'll let you know how I go performance wise once my new cat's are fitted. running empty at the moment. I have timed a 0-60 a couple of times and intend to do so again on the same roads with them in . my blowing manifould will be repaired so a slight advantage will be given to the cat's on test ! I like the sound with them out though . |

Title: Re: De - Catting Post by cossie_al on Oct 14th, 2007, 7:26pm I am of the opinion that if your engine is in good condition and running perfectly you may just get through the emissions test with empty/no cats. But as I said, I found no difference in performance between new and no cats :-/ |

Title: Re: De - Catting Post by Highlander on Oct 16th, 2007, 1:30am removing the cats would only give you another 5-10 bhp (unless you are the guy on ebay the other week who gained 100Bhp lol) so you would hardly notice. i dont notice any difference but i know its there ;) One day i'll get it on a rolling road!! ;D |

Title: Re: De - Catting Post by scorpio_man on Oct 16th, 2007, 8:14am hi there de-catting appears to make most difference to the 16valve engine when done with a proper de-cat pipe. might be something to do with 4 cylinders going into the cat than 3 from the v6.... less backpressure on the v6? :-/ does on mine, anyway. ;) ;D |

Title: Re: De - Catting Post by dan_the_man on Nov 18th, 2007, 4:38pm as I said earlier in this post, I'd update you on performance with ref to the cat's. exactly the same on 2 0-60 tests. with the manifould fixed. she runs much better at tickover now with the cat's in . |
