Title: Clutch problems.
Post by Simmo on Oct 11th, 2007, 9:11pm
I had a new clutch and hydraulic release bearing fitted some 38000 miles ago and once again occasionally  I have difficulty is selecting a gear.  In trying to establish where the problem might be I have found a switch fitted to the clutch pedal. Whilst I do not think this has anything to do with the 'fault' I am at a loss to understand what it does. Can anyone enlighten me please?. Also the clutch manual on the site HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/manualtrans/BleedClutch.pdf) shows a method of 'bleeding' the clutch master cylinder. Has anyone carried this out ?.  ???

The switch is probably for the cruise control - dip the clutch and it shuts the cruise off, otherwise the engine would rev away.

Bleeding the clutch is easy (and should be done after changing the cylinder). The manual seems like it got it right.

Thanks Harry. That idea never occurred to me but  it certainly makes sense and I'm sure you are right. Mike. :)
