Coil spring compressors....Pints of hot tea......Lots of patience.Only ever changed springs on a mk3 estate before & to be honest they were a bit of a pig.Got stands on the jacking plates & jack under diff.Compressors on both springs, undid lower arms etc & lowered axel enough to remove compressed springs.Refitting was the reversal.......ALTHOUGH im sure someone on here will tell you the correct way to do it  :o :o ;D

I found the easiest way was to drop the whole back subframe, no need for spring compressors.

Two big bolts holding the front of the subframe and one or two depending on year holding the diff mount to the chassis.

Watch you dont drop it too far and stretch the brake pipes though

Job done . What a pig of a job. Managed to do it with a bit of help from a mate. One of the bolts that hold the the bottom of the shocker sheared off so I had to drill it out and put a new nut and bolt in. Thanks for the advice
