Title: Exhaust Post by Octavian_P on Oct 29th, 2007, 9:49am Hi there I want to give a little more growl to my cossie and maybe a slight increase of power (only a few HP). I had a look under the car and the stock exhaust is like this: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d190/Octavian_P/Clipboard01.jpg If i cut the join of the pipes and exclude the final silencer would it mess the back-flow ? Would it growl to much or the mpg will go even lower ? Probably much of you have already seen a stock Scorpio exhaust and you all know that the section of the final pipe is equal to the section of the two side pipes. So at the place of joining the effective area halfens . http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d190/Octavian_P/tunned.jpg |

Title: Re: Exhaust Post by Tons_of_fun on Oct 29th, 2007, 10:08am Hi Octavian. The rear box on my old 2.0l fell off whilst driving & if i hadnt seen it rolling down the road in my rear view mirror ,i wouldnt have noticed it at all.All i did was extend the pipework to create a tailpipe & that was it.Drove it for another year with no real difference to economy or performance. It did make the exhaust note a little deeper at tickover though ;) ;D ;D |

Title: Re: Exhaust Post by Octavian_P on Oct 29th, 2007, 10:55am You are right, almost the same happened on my 2.3. But the Sierra and the 2.3 Scorpio have 4 cylinder engines with only one exhaust. The 2.9 has separate exhaust until a point where they are united in one pipe reducing the overall section to half :) |
