Post by ColinE on Oct 29th, 2007, 2:22pm
Hi
Any advice please, when I first start from cold the cooling lights comes on and stays on, I stop at the paper shop switch off, do what I have to get back in start up, no light, it is doing this each time I go out, I have checked the water level in the header tank this is fine, maybe a bad connection on the senser, where can I find this? any other Ideas.

Colin

The sensor goes into the water tank underneath  :)

My 2.3 did exactly the same, The water level seemed fine, but my parking lot has a small incline. On a flat surface with cold water the level was a bit under minimum which was bringing the light on. When the engine heats the water increases it's volume and the light goes out  :)

If it is similar to the Granada....

It had an hinged plastic float containing a magnet the fixed part had a magnetically operated reed switch. The hinge could become a little sticky in operation, sometimes showing a false low level.
