Title: O-ring in fuel connection
Post by Dave on Nov 16th, 2007, 7:44pm
Chaps,

has anyone ever replaced an o-ring/seal in one of the push on (with the release tabs) fuel connectors?

Thanks  :)

Just saw your PM ;D

Try removing the connector & cleaning the pipe up.
Pretty sure if the seal has gone then you've had it.

If that fails I think I may have one spare.

The pipe is plastic & is heated before fitting so it moulds itself to the connection, you will have to cut the pipe to remove it.

If all fails you can use a proper bit of petrol pipe from the rail to the conection as the rail is barbed & the metal pipe has a flange on it so neither will pull off with jubilee's on them ;)

Cut plactic pipe back to where its the same diametre as the steel pipe, most good hydraulic pipe shops will have a push in 90 fitting that will work fine.

Many thanks indeed guys, that is extremely helpful  :)

A big concern was whether the ends of the pipes were just straight or flanged, that has been cleared up.

Thanks again  8) ;D :)

Gents,

1 more question if I may  :)

This pic shows the 2 pipes that run to/from the injector rails:

As you can see, 1 pipe has a red connection and 1 pipe has a white connection.

The pipe with the white connection has some sort of take off point, maybe to connect a fuel pressure gauge I guess.

Which pipe is the supply pipe and which is the return pipe  ???

Huge thanks  :)

You have answered your own question ;D

The one with the tyre looking valve on it is the supply as it's pressurised hence the testing valve.
Other is return.

The flange bit is just before where the connector goes to, so if pipe is used make sure you push it past that bit.
You will see what I mean.

Well the car went to the local garage in the end, 1 new o-ring later and the fuel leak has stopped  8)

Many thanks for the replies, I was a bit worried about needing new fuel rails etc for a while  ::) :)
