Title: Cosworth Tyres
Post by Bren on Nov 17th, 2007, 7:34pm
Has anyone used GT Champiro 50 tyres on a cossie?

If so is the experience positive or otherwise?

They are priced on Kwik Fit website at £85 (225/50Z16) which sounds reasonable to me.

Just to pop off topic I logged on, or tried to, on one computer to be told my username does not exist and then logged on with other pc using the same details successfully.

hi there

they're on mytyres (http://ssl.delti.com/mytires/start.html) for £57.30. if you know a small tyre fitting place, they'd fit them for £10.

i'd go for the kumho ku31 £60.10(i have them on the rear of my car) or the falken 452 £61.40 (on a mate's volvo, great for high mileage).

re the log in. were you using your full (old) username?

champiro is a budget brand, but dont discount them, in fact dont discount most of the so called 'budget' brands, you could be supprised. around £60 is about right for reasonable budget tyre of that size, try checking smaller 'independant' tyre fitters / garages for surprisingly good prices.

You could try here for the fitted at home falken 452 price, as long as you’re getting more than one tyre (min spend £85.00):

I’ve just used this one:

Good service, the guy had owned a Scorp & used the forum

Hi,just got to this thread.I had champiro fitted to my old mk3 estate (not sure what model they were),& for every day motoring they werent too bad,but were a bit slippy in the wet.As scorpio man suggested Kumho SPT ku31 tyres are good value for money.I,ve just fitted these to my car & i think they are every bit as grippy as the previous Avon zz3 (which were far more expensive). They are also a lot quieter, which is nice.Hope that helps...Craig :)

Apologies for the delay in replying to you all, I got stuffed with work and computers have been off for a few days.

Thanks to all of you for your comments, on www.mytyres.co.uk there are links to independent tyre tests for quite a lot of the brands which is very useful. At these prices it's got to be a top contender for my hard earned, dwindling cash.

Like most of us i don't carry money in my wallet, only a picture of my scorp to remind me where most of it went.

Hi.
Just had two tyres fitted to my Cosworth by independant fitter in Minehead @ £37.54 each inc.vat.  They are 225/60 ZR16 Austone.

Had new boots put on the XJ a few weeks back, got a set of Avon ZZ3 from etyres. Had a quote from National over in Colchester for £480, etyres came out at £360 and I got them fitted next day at home. Tyres are great, really quiet and tonnes of grip in the wet, had Avons on the V12 and liked them back then.

Regards, Bruce :).

;D ;)

I know...but the tyres are good, no problems with them and they were cheap. You pay your money and take your chance but etyres seem pretty good, way cheaper than Kwikfit or National, decent 225's on a Scorpio aren't cheap :)

I won't fit tyres now that don't include a wheel protector rim on them.  They work and look good as well.
