Toying with the idea of changing my engine and gearbox in my cossie estate. Are there any major problems that anyone has encountered when attempting this

what engine are you changine it to?

it will be a straight 24v for 24v swap

I think the engine needs to come out from underneath, so you'll need to get the front up quite high.

yeah, engine is best to come out from under the car, its easier to just drop the whole lot off with the front suspension and steering rack on the subframe, the box will come off with it in one bit lot

thanks guys I have the use of a lift at a garage I do some wprk for so dropping the engine/box down shouldnt be a problem .will I have to swap the p a t s module as well.

Nope, as long as you're keeping the same ECU.

give the loom a check over before you fit it, its a LOT easier to get it off with the engine and box out the car

As mentioned above, make sure you check everything over prior to reassembly, especially potentialy weak areas like the steering rack.
Also when taking all things apart, take your time with it. I've lost my rag with things before and forced/broken bits only to create much more work for myself.

Thanks for all the advice. Don't know wether to go ahead or not to be honest, I have a spare engine and gearbox but don,t know if to drop it in my scorpio estate or try to put it in anXR4x4 shell I was offered the other day!
