Title: Service prices please
Post by scorp299 on Dec 8th, 2007, 4:26pm
Hi everybody.I've just recently treated myself to a N reg Ultima Cosworth 24v.I fancied something that little bit different and comfy after having the usual 3i and 4i's.It's got one or two probs(key fob for one),nothing drastic though.Anyway I'm looking to get it serviced before I make the journey from London to Yorkshire and was wondering what the price should be for a good major service.I've been quoted as cheap as £135 and as dear as £240.What with two massively different prices, which one is nearer the mark. Many thanks for any help on the subject,Gary.(I'll be back on with more problems I have no doubt)

depends what comes up,

if the ht leads need doing your looking at around £100 for them alone, the plugs can be the best part of £50 - £60,

if the water pump has gone or goes, you be hard pushed to find one and if you do expect to pay at least £120 for it,

oil has to be fully synthetic, 0W-40 grade is best and thats about £30 - £50 depending on brand

air, oil and fule filters are about a £10 each,

then add labour onto it if your not doing it yourself

there not cheap these cars

Thanks Matt for the reply.Hopefully having a full Ford service history every 10000 miles upto 60000 and only having done 75000 miles there won't be much wrong with her(fingers crossed).I'll post whatever the outcome is on here when I get it done next week.

Why not do the 200 mile trip first and arrange for the work to be done up here? Much cheaper labour costs in Yorkshire and I can point you towards a good Ford trained independant garage.

Hi,
why not do it yourself - much more reliable - just follow the pages here.

If you must, or you want some things done that you do want to - like coolant/brake fluid change then the place I use just up the road is absolutely ace and very reasonable.  :)

Pete & Tony at Hartfield Motors, Rear of 426 Upper Elmers End Road, Beckenham, BR3 3HQ. 020 8658 9623 (opposite Eden Park Station)

I thought I had replied to this one sorry-

Yes, not too far away. Garforth, about 8 miles from Waky.
