howdy, I have purchased a leather interior for my old bus. my cloth seats are manualy operated, back and forward. ect. I have it in my head that ford fitted the cars with plugs for the seats then put in manual adjustable seats ! could someone in the know please confirm or correct me on this. cheers, Dan.

I think you will find the plugs are there, possibly hidden under the carpets.

not looking good. got the seat out 5 minutes. searched heavily for the plugs... found None. I had a good route under the carpet where the wires come up to the entre console. and I loooked further back.

As far as I remember you will find one under the passenger seat carpet, The other needs an extra loom to come from that, Or was that the heaters :-/, Can't remember now ;D

The heated seats require the extra loom from the passenger side... The plugs ( IF there are any ) will be under the carpet towards the front of the car .... otherwise you just need a live feed to them and and earth ...

no plugs. I had the carpet up on the passenger side.
I plan to run a 3 core wire from the battery to the seat and earth the seat through the floor pan. please let me know if I have not got the best idea for this job. cheers. I intend not to fuse the circuit.

Suggest you DO put an in line fuse in ( If for any reason it shorts out your car could catch fire.. fuse (inline) will protect you from that

And put the fuse as close to the battery as possible (keep the unfused part of the wire as short as possible)

cheers guys, what size fuse should I go for ? 13 amp or am I thinking 240v fuses there.

I would suggest 30amp as in the HANDBOOK (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/handbook130.gif) and do as Kjetil suggests put the fuse as close as possible to the battery .

The Scorpio heated seats are fed from the cigar lighter loom in the centre console with a 5 amp feed from the radio loom powering the relay (this ensures the Scorpio switches are not overloaded).

I made a loom when I did the change over in mine and used the relay and switches from a donor Scorpio. If you plan to use the Scorpio switches make sure you use a relay as I don't think they are man enough for 30amp!!

chees cheeky boy, I had both seats out and in again today. I'm not fussed for the heated part. I just want the seats to move as they should . I think I need to quit or emloy a autoelectrician to do the job.
