You need to be SCRUPULOUSLY clean . You will need a new gearbox sump gasket and filter and a new set of ( 2) O rings and possibly a shorter bolt as the newer style filters are thinner , about 8ltrs of dextron 3 or 4 ATF Fluid to meet Ford Spec. (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/autotrans/A4LDESpecs.pdf) There is plenty of info on the main site, but a word of warning You will NOT be able to remove ALL of the fluid as some remains inside the torque converter and I do not know of a method of removing this without removing the said item .

This write (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/aboxfilters.htm) up might help along with the G/Box fact sheets

When I changed the filter on my 98 cosworth I refilled the sump, them took off the lower pipe on the oil cooler, Started the engine and let approx the the amount I had put in the sump pump out. Keep doing this untill clean fluid starts to come out, and you will have changed most of it.
