Title: Replacing auto cooler pipes
Post by amigafan2003 on Feb 6th, 2008, 8:35pm
One of my auto cooler pipes is leaking so I need to replace it - are they easy to do?  Is there a guide on the main site as to how to do it?

S reg Cossie Ultima btw.

when mine started leaking I cut the bad bit out with a plumbers pipe cutter and put a piece of 9mm fuel pipe between the two pieces and secured it with 2 jubillee clips either end, there is very little pressure there anyways. Total cost was about £5 the shorter pipe alone was £28 from FMD

Sounds a good idea.  I have some stainless braided 9mm fuel fuel hose left over from the Westfield build so should be just right for the job.

When I cut the pipe, do i need to be prepared for a lot of fluid or will an old washing up bowl suffice?

If the engine is NOT running and cold then there will be very little loss of fluid ,

Ok, just done this whilst the weather is nice(r) and it works a treat.  Looks quite funky having the stainless braided pipe :D

Thanks for the advice all.
