Have you had a pressure gauge onto it?Possibility of low oil pressure!

It might be the pressure switch itself has failed, or that the wire to the switch has an intermitant short to earth.

Could be sludge/deposits in the engine or oil pump.....

As scorpio_man says, it should be 5W-30 oil  ;)

Personally, I would start by flushing the oil out using a good engine flush (Wynns is pretty good) to get any sludge & deposits out of the engine oil ways & oil pump, & then refill with 5W-30 oil (semi-synthetic or fully synthetic).....& go from there  :)

symptom could also be a worn oil pump or bearings but I would have thought you would have other symptoms if it was the bearings
