Today I have changed the oil and filter in my 2.3 .I removed the sump plug and filter ,left it to drain for 30 mins or so .Replaced sump bolt put on the filter re-filled with 4.25 litres of ford 5-30 oil .
To my surprise after starting the engine for a couple of mins to get the oil round and checking oil level ,it only just got the bottom of the dip stick .
I left it for half an hour to settle just in case for some reason the oil had not settled .Checked again still only just on the dip-stick .So I put the rest from the can in just on .75 of a litre ,checked level and its on the max mark.Is it normal for a 2.3 to take a full 5 litres,it just concerns me that there may be a problem somewhere .has anyone else used a full 5 litres of oil in a 2.3 .. or is there nothing to worry about ...Thanks for any help in advance

Mine took the full can too, greedy little beggers arn't they? >:(
