Title: Differential oil change
Post by forcars on Mar 11th, 2008, 7:52am
What is the dfferential oil change interval? Is there a drain plug or do you have to take off the whole cover? Is there a gasket or you just need to use some sealant to form one?
What oil to use? Capacity? Anything else I should know to do this right?

The details of oil and capacity are HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/rearaxle/RAxleSpecs.pdf). AFIK there is no drain plug. The details for dismantling are also on the link. :)

You can change the oil with a different approach. Get a small tube in through the filling plug, and get the oil out with a small pump or syringe. You will take almost all of the oil out in this manner. Then fill it up to the plug with new stuff.

Be aware as the differential doesn't use transmission oil. It uses HYPOID gear oil.
