Title: Scorpio differential ratios Post by pappa on Mar 31st, 2008, 12:15pm Greetings The Fellowship of Scorpionists! :) My 2.3 DOHC project is rusting in the garage. Currently I'm in the process of modifying the rear break pipes to match the abs system ("it's an uppgrade from -95 to 97+") and at the same go renewing the rear springs. The diff. I've got in this unholy mixture of Cossie chassis and 2.3 DOHC lump+A4LDE is from Cossie. I need to replace it with another one with a smaller ratio in order to get better torque at lower rpm and hopefully fix the erratic behaviour of the A4LDE at low rpm. So I do have a genuine 96+ 2.3 DOHC + manual diff in my hands, but I also have three others as well. Two are from -86 and -91 Granada 4x4's and one from a -92 Granada 24V (Scorpio). I'd like to know what's the diff. ratio in those ones. Anyway got an idea? |

Title: Re: Scorpio differential ratios Post by Mike_Floutier on Jul 4th, 2008, 12:50pm Hi Pappa, I came across your post whilst thinking through replacing my diff. The "rear axle spec." page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/rearaxle/RAxleSpecs.pdf) on the site shows a number of different ratios. The "rear axle overhaul" page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/rearaxle/RAxleOverhaul.pdf) shows how to interpret the details on the little metal tag attched to the diff.'s back plate. What puzzles me is that my existing (very noisy) diff.'s tag shows a ratio of 3.91:1 which is different to all the ratios quoted in the Ford specs. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Mike |

Title: Re: Scorpio differential ratios Post by scorpio_man on Jul 4th, 2008, 1:25pm hi there 3.91 is correct. looks like a typo in the pdf. file as the 4.27 is for the 2.0 16v, iirc hth |
