Title: Remote Fob - Yet again !!
Post by davem on Mar 31st, 2008, 4:42pm
OK..I have been doing some experimenting since fixing Gost's remote fob last weekend at the Kent meeting and I have noticed one or two things.

There are obviously different versions of the Scorpio Handbook and the one listed on the Scorpio site shows details of the remote fob, even though the programming method is apparently incorrect.

and

So that shows one version of the handbook, but mine is different. I have a '95 Cosworth so I presume the handbook is about the same age and details on the fob in my hand book are as below:

The bit I crossed out many years ago, instructed me to put the batteries in upside down. Yes, they should be + side down.

You can see even the page numbering is different to the handbook on the Scorpio site.

Anyway, it would appear that the 3 or 4 "position one" clicks and then press unlock (documented elsewhere on the Scorpio site) seems to work for all vehicles, while mine (and some others) may only need to switch to position 1 and press unlock on the fob to programme it. My car works with both methods.

I did notice that if you use the method of switching to "position 1" 3 or 4 times, until you get a ping.....it will actually time-out after about 10 seconds (or if you remove the key), after which time a second ping tells you it has timed-out of fob programming mode. Also, during this  10 second period you may also programme a second key fob, if you have one.

Well, I have a second fob, so I programmed both, and both worked. Now to get the 2 programmed fobs set to two different seat memory and wing mirror positions.

This would allow a second driver to have their own keyfob, and whichever fob is used to unlock the car, then the approriate seat/mirror memory selection will be used. (up to 3 fobs, because you only have 3 memorys)

Once both fobs were programmed, I sat inside the car, and without storing any new memory seat positions I simply pressed memory button 1 and then pressed "lock" on keyfob one. Ping...Memory 1 seat/mirror positions now set to key fob 1.

Pressed memory position 2, waited for the seats and mirrors to move, then pressed "lock" on keyfob 2. Ping...Memory 2 seat/mirror positions now set to key fob 2.

So now my wife has her own key and fob with her own memorised seat positions, and I dont bang my knees on the windscreen whenever I use my fob to get in.

Anyone else tried this?  Any comments?
Dave

I was unable to programme my remote to work on entry. I.E. move the seat back automatically to position '1' when I unlocked the door. I tried the above advice re hitting the lock key on the remote after pressing 1 on the memory seat. All this did was lock the car ??? While I was there I fiddled on (if you pardon the expression) and now it all works but I can't remember the sequence. DOH! I do know that you have to hold the 1 button for a long time before the chime is heard.
