Title: Sensotronic
Post by Daven on Apr 8th, 2008, 7:55am
Erics write up on the steering rack states that the sensotronic racks were fitted to Scorpios with the comfort pack.

How can I tell if my new 2.3 auto has this without getting under and looking? From the top I can't see the rack where the switch would be so is there any other way. What was the comfort pack?

Had a look an a particular database but that was not clear either way ;)

Cheers

Dave

The only sure way is to get underneath & have a look.

If is speed sensitive then there will be a square block on the side of the rack pinion housing with a two pin multiplug  :)

From the TIS....

"The Servotronic power steering system fitted to the Scorpio V6 24V incorporates a module located behind the fuse/relay box and an actuator fitted to the steering gear valve body. The module receives signals from the speed sensor and depending upon the vehicle speed, activates the actuator to increase or decrease the fluid pressure to create high or low steering efforts."

Is this a "comfort pack"? If so looks like only on the Cossie.

As far as I know the cossie was the only scorp fitted with speed sensitive steering, although there is mention that a few other models may have been lucky enough to get the option  :)
