Title: boot light Post by Chieftain on May 12th, 2008, 7:15pm in the process of reparing the boot light, know about the suspect cause being broken cable in the hinge, but where is the switch the operates it when you open the boot. Pound to a penny if there is one it will be in a stupid place. >:( |

Title: Re: boot light Post by scorpio_man on May 12th, 2008, 8:47pm hi there it's in the back of the lock. same idea as the door locks. hth |

Title: Re: boot light Post by Chieftain on May 12th, 2008, 8:56pm thanks SM, not where I thought it would be, what does it look like? must admit I had been thinking of a simple push switch like the door courtest switches. |

Title: Re: boot light Post by Simmo on May 13th, 2008, 6:22am There is some detail in the 'Boot lock' section on THIS page (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/closuresmanl.htm). ;) |

Title: Re: boot light Post by Chieftain on May 13th, 2008, 5:27pm Read that and today stripped it down but there is nothing there like a switch to control boot light, (that i can see) both microswitches are for the lock. Once when testing it i was lieing in the boot and moving the boot lid and that was actuating the light.. That could have been the damaged wire though. Not vital but I like things to work ;D |

Title: Re: boot light Post by Tompion on May 13th, 2008, 6:16pm If I leave my boot open & manually close the latch the light goes out, so must be one of the switches on the lock. |

Title: Re: boot light Post by Chieftain on May 13th, 2008, 7:32pm thanks for that Tompion, guess it makes sense, BTW is there a fuse for it as cant find one listed? |
||
Title: Re: boot light Post by Tompion on May 13th, 2008, 8:13pm I think it's fuse 24 - interior lights |
||
Title: Re: boot light Post by Simmo on May 14th, 2008, 8:11am The wiring diagram seems to confirm fuse 24 and the wiring colour to the boot lamp seems to change from orange/black to orange/blue?. Difficult to decipher the last letter. Seems to be a single feed with an earth. HTH :) |

Title: Re: boot light Post by Chieftain on May 14th, 2008, 1:38pm Simmo thanks for that, those are the colours, going out to try again soon will let you know how it goes. ;D |

Title: Re: boot light Post by Chieftain on May 14th, 2008, 3:00pm Success ;D ;D found 2 severed wires in the loom down by passenger door, on for the light and the other goes to the switch so no wonder it does not light. Thankk goodness for gas powered soldering irons, all joined and new insulating cover fitted. Works a treat including tripping the lock while open and watch it go out. many thanks all, I know it is only a little thing but I do like them to work |

Title: Re: boot light Post by Simmo on May 14th, 2008, 9:16pm In case this happens again to a member can you just explain where the 'problem point' was a little more precisely please?. ;) Glad you're sorted. :) |
||
Title: Re: boot light Post by Chieftain on May 14th, 2008, 10:08pm Passenger side, behind the backrest, drop back rest and pull the trim back and you will see the loom, my break was about half way down but hidden by the cloth tape that wraps the loom. Found it helped to remove the loom from the boot lid to give more play to trim and repair. Hope this is clearer than muddy water ;D |

Title: Re: boot light Post by Simmo on May 15th, 2008, 6:54am Thanks BOB, It appears similar to the 'hinge damage' which you mentioned, and which is a known problem, but in a slightly different location. May well help in the future and as with the known problem it is necessary to remove the loom tape in order to find it. ;) |
