Title: Front suspension arms
Post by amigafan2003 on Jul 9th, 2008, 2:25pm
Hi all.

I had both front suspension arms replaced as part of my mot in May but I've read a few posts since then stating that they should be tightened up with the vehicle weight on them.  Now, I'm not sure if the garage did this and I'm sure they wont remember now.

To be on the safe side, could I just back of the nuts/bolts a turn and then tighten them back up again to be sure?

Would I be able to tell by looking at the bushes, i.e. might they be twisted through 90 deg etc?

Yes if you can get under the vehicle whilst it's on it's wheels,if they have tightened them under torsion they should know better,if you loosen the relevant nuts the bushes will twang back into position.

Sounds like a good idea.

With the steering on full lock, access to the front nut and bolt  is OK.

A  5 minute job with a good  socket  set  and  torque bar. :-*
