Hi,

just after abit of info please. I have a 2.9 v6 12v with standard auto box with no overdrive. question is would i be possible to put on the sports/economy modes and even over drive or would it mean changing the gearbox? also would it be easy to add traction control?any advice would be greatful. many thanks, jim.

The 12v does NOT have the capabilty of adding the features you talk about . They were only available on the fully electronic box on the later models the  12v uses the older box from the granada and is only partially electronic. The 12v is VERY econonocal in 4th ( same as overdrive ) as it is a direct drive from the engine and engages after 45mph if you drive under normal accerleration you should see the revs drop when the speed reaches 45 mph by about 600 rpm . It really is quite noticeable.
It also drops out of gear under 30 mph when the accelerator is released, you only have to watch the rev counter to observe
the differences in the boxes etc can be found HERE (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/autotrans.htm)

Hope that all helps
The only thing the electronics do is " hold " the gears longer when in sports mode. You can acheive the same effect by using the box manually .

Traction control also is controlled by the EEC and ABS unit and the two are NOT interchangable .

Jimmy.
As Snoopy says the two boxes are different, the later fully electronic one is only fitted to cars with EEC V PCM,therefore yours with EEC IV would not have the capability of operating the later box fully.
