Is this a sealed unit connected between the 3 hoses or can the stat be changed without changing the housing ??

Its a sealed T-Piece affair

Have you started re-assemly yet? Did you remove the ali housing that the themostat bypass hose connects to under the inlet manifold or are you connecting with it left in place?  :-/
Out of interest what condition are the injector wires in, I've noticed mine have degraded the plastic covering has got very brittle exposing bare wire in places.

I have re-assembled, I left the housing in place and fiddled around pushing the hose onto the housing while still in place - slid on eventually using a liberal amount of aloe- vera liquid soap !!

then had to take the thermostat out again as there was a pin hole in the side of the housing.

As for the wireing yes mine does look a tad brittle, any I notice being in need I will use a bit of insulating tape around and hope that there are no shorts on re-connection

Did you manage to source a hose m8 ??

Yes, I have managed to source a hose hoping to have it tomorrow (fingers crossed).....Then re assembly.... I can see me posting a few more times over the next week.

Next question is which way up does this go ?? am I right in thinking that the picture highlander has posted shows the stat the wrong way up ??

I ask because I have fitted the one that I got and the bottom hose stays cold and the engine would appear to boil although the temp gage only goes to half way making me think the stat is not wotking although where I got it told me it was working before removal.

sorted it - I think that it was either stuck through standing for a while, which cleared with the heat or I had an air lock.

Anyway - another thought has crossed my mind now - as these flipping ( {}) things cost almost £70 from henry, and my main dealer has had one on order since may (not for me I hasten to add) and still no sign of it turning up I think that it may be of value having the little hole in the side of my old one brazed up and hanging onto it as a spare as the stat itself worked perfect

Yes Highlanders picture is not the right way round for fitment,the turned flange goes at the bottom,if you look into the top you will see the valve.You could indeed braze up your old one depending on the position of the hole,care would have to be taken not to damage the thermostat.Might be better to do it cold using epoxy resin and some reinforcement.

I did think of using some quiksteel but then thought that the differences in expansion/contraction may cause it to leak again at the same spot, it is just a pin hole high on the side just about level with the top of the side entry, which is pretty much as far away from the workings of the stat as you could get - hence my thoughts of brazing

If I were doing it,I would bung up the bottom and side orifices and cover the bottom of the stat with good old H2o

I’d soft solder a patch on it or drill & plug it.

Not that that’s why I’m posting. I saw a Rover stat on Ebay, clearly not the right outlet & don’t know if the right temp or diameter, but looks as though it has the potential for adapting should they stop making the Scorp ones.

Hmmm does look like it has potential, For information I ended up using silver solder on the pinhole and it's sat In my shed now with the other scorp bits I'm starting to gather  :D

have a look at a mondeo 24v one.ther alloy and have a replaceble thermostat
