Title: Re: boot spring Post by Snoopy on Aug 16th, 2008, 12:28pm The spring can be tightened, you can with some help put it on the next hole ( near the back of the car ) or do what I and others did and use very good strong cable ties and tighten it by putting them around four or five loops of the spring. trial and error is the best way .. The cable ties do need to be VERY GOOD qualty and i used two on each spring . |

Title: Re: boot spring Post by mr._floppy on Aug 16th, 2008, 9:11pm Or a couple of big Jubilee clips per spring will do the same job. Apart from using a tug-of-war team with a tow rope, I would advise against trying to unhook the spring. It's a VERY strong spring. ::) |

Title: Re: boot spring Post by cossie_al on Aug 16th, 2008, 9:32pm Ahh yes those bleessed springs >:( >:( :'( :-X If you do want to try adjusting them by getting them onto the next holes remember to do it one at a time in other words do not unhook both springs at once. That heavy boot lid can give a nast gash to the top of your head. No I am not talking from experience honest ;D }{ }{ Or you could do what I did and attach a thin rope to the spring and the other end to a tree/lamp post and then gently roll the car away just enough to get the hook of the spring near the last hole, if you put them both on the last holes the lid goes up like an ejector seat when you press the boot release. One last word of warning if you do decide to try it by hand wear thick gloves. |
