Loom problem? I had the same on my manual. The reversing light stopped working at the same time. Both were due to faulty wiring from the gearbox. replaced with a used loom from a member here and all problems disappeared.

Snoopy posted the wiring diagrams online, look in this (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=news;action=display;num=1215535308) thread.

As far as I can tell from the diagrams, the output from the VSS goes to a connector (shorting bar) then spurs off for the speed control (cruise) module, speed signal for the radio and the instrument cluster.

I presume this 'shorting bar connector' is in the main fusebox so goes through one of the main multiplugs but the diagrams are really confusing, don't quote me :-/

Agree with Kjetil, it sounds like a broken loom losing the signal somewhere, maybe one of the guys is more familiar with the wiring layout and can help more.

Regards, Bruce.
