I'm having a problem of aircon (not c/c) only coming on when the engine is hot and I go over a bump in the road.
The driver handbook states that the aircon relay (R24) in the auxiliary fuse box is coloured Green.
On my 97 2.3 It's Blue.
Does anyone know what the colour should be ?

I have checked all electrical conections and they seem to be ok, all I can think of now is the relay sticking or it's the wrong one.

remove the front panel and make sure the cable ribbon is plugged in, they come loose

Is that a complete dash removal, or just the black bit with the 3 control knobs on ?

THIS (http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/fasciabulbs.htm) will show you how to remove the air con panel. Take care as the clips are tight and require a strong thin blade to release them. Some members use an old credit card or similar. You will see that there is a reference to a 'tang' at one end of the panel and you need to slide the panel in order to avoid breaking the 'tang'. On RIGHT hand drive cars the tang is on the right so you need to slide it to the LEFT. NOT as shown in the diagram, which, if you look carefully, you will see is for a LEFT hand drive vehicle. :)

I think the colour of the relay is quite correct , I seem to recall others members with A/C problems having trouble finding the correct colour relay.. Try pulling it out and seeing if that disables the A/C to make doubly sure...
I am assuming that from your post you do NOT have Climate control but Standard A/C m

If you're still not sorted by the weekend, find me at Billing. I'll bung all the relays I've got in the car and I'm sure there's one in there you can try. I've certainly got the fusebox contents from a Scorpio with a/c only

The relay on my TD is green and is just infront of the yellow (power saver) relay.
