Title: Wheel Disc Id
Post by Kenboy on Sep 3rd, 2008, 12:03pm
Hi Guys the car passed its MOT for the sixth year on the trot but was advised that the wheel discs are coming to the the end of there life and will need to be changed before next MOT, what I need to know is, what size are these discs. the car is a 1997 saloon 2.3 I was also advised that the handbrake effeciency only just passed I have since renewed rear disc pads but I feel the handbrake travels to far, your advice on both would be greatly appreciated.

Hand brake is self adjusting - if it's close to failing under efficiency the calipers might be on their way out?  Is the car an auto - do you use the handbrak eonly sparingly?

Discs for the front are 260mm - I happen to have a brand new boxed Mintex set with pads = £35 inc delivery if you want them - same as these:-

You'll have to check the rear discs to see if they are solid or vented. Most 2.3 saloons have solid rear discs, but some later models (like my 2.3 facelift) have vented rear discs fitted  :)
